The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Our Mission
Kent Prep believes that scores aren’t everything, and strives to help students discover their passion and academic interests. Kent Prep’s distinguished teams of grade specific counselors provide personalized and exceptional guidance and academic support to meet each student’s individual strengths and weaknesses.
We recognize each student’s unique academic abilities, and as an enrichment center, we allow them the flexibility and freedom to learn at their own pace. Also as a renowned test prep center, we help students maximize their own distinctive potentials to help them gain admission into the schools that fit their particular conditions.
Structure
To register for classes and programs at Kent Prep, students submit their report card grades and take a placement test, and then are interviewed by grade specific counselors. These experienced counselors also speak with parents to understand their child’s needs and behaviors. For example, an intellectually gifted child may be misunderstood and viewed as “slacking off” in class, but in reality he is bored with the classroom setting. We work at the student’s pace by offering a wide range of small group classes, where teachers are able to understand and embrace of child’s unique personality. Our counselors not only interview students applying for a program, but they also determine which teacher a child would benefit most from based on his or her personality and by gauging what would be the right fit.
