School of American Ballet is the premier ballet academy in the United States, training more students who go on to become professional dancers than any other school. SAB is the official School of New York City Ballet.
The School's students enroll at various stages of their development as dancers. Those from the New York area may start as children with little or no experience. Other students from around the US are typically introduced to the School through our five week summer program for 12 to 18 year olds, and may subsequently stay year-round in our dormitories to continue their training. All students must audition in order to attend SAB.
